As a dedicated healthcare professional, Stephanie Popowski-Dahl, RN, CADDCT, CDP, has more than 19 years of comprehensive hands-on experience as a registered nurse in the hospital and clinic settings with special procedures. She has also worked in the long-term care environment. Stephanie’s most recent position was as the Director of Staff Development, in which she was responsible for the development and implementation of onboarding programs for all new employees. In addition, she helped to improve the knowledge and abilities of established employees through online in-service education and “one to one” time with staff on the clinical units. Stephanie has always felt education is the heartbeat of providing excellent care for any client/patient/resident. In addition, Stephanie provided CNA certification/Medication Aide testing through the South Dakota Board of Nursing.
Stephanie is a highly organized leader and accustomed to taking on challenging tasks. She served as the Chair to the Safety Committee and was an active member of the Fall Prevention Committee, Quality of Life and QAPI committees at Jenkins Living Center. Stephanie also worked at Sanford Clinic with a busy OB-GYN for 7+ years. She helped educate patients prior, during and after their pregnancy experience. She delivered top-notch care and engaged with the patients, learning about them and established rapport to encourage personal comfort.
In addition to completing her nursing education at the University of South Dakota in 2004, Stephanie is also a Certified Dementia Practitioner through the Alzheimer’s Association. She enjoys spending time with her husband, John and their children, Madeline, and Andrew as well as cheering on the NDSU Bison football team. Stephanie is proud to be a part of the South Dakota Foundation for Medical Care. Stephanie is honored to be a part of the team of Project Firstline. Being a part of this instrumental team in providing infection control education throughout the state of South Dakota will have a long-lasting impact that will provide quality care to the clients that are served in health care settings.
